2009 ROMS/TOMS Asia-Pacific Workshop
Sydney Institute of Marine Science (SIMS), Sydney, Australia, March 30-April 3, 2009

At this time the workshop registration fee is set at 150 AUD (around 90 USD). We are still hoping for additional funding that will allow us to lower the fee. If the funding comes through we will send another announcement.

We are still trying to gauge interest in the planned tutorials that will be offered on Monday and Friday. Monday's session will be a training/tutorial for ROMS beginners. It will be held at a University of New South Wales computer lab. Details and directions will be available soon. This session is intended for people with little experience with ROMS who are interested in learning the basics of downloading, configuring and running the model for a simple application. A working knowledge of computing in a UNIX environment will be assumed.

On Friday we will be holding 2 sessions concurrently. Both tutorial presentations will be at the SIMS Meeting Venue. One session will be a tutorial on how to use the Community Sediment Transport Model (CSTM) within ROMS. This is intended for users with some familiarity with ROMS, or with sediment transport modeling. The other session will be an overview of the ecosystem models in ROMS. This is intended for users with some familiarity with ROMS, or ecosystem modeling.

We would like all workshop attendees to indicate their interest in the above tutorials by visiting  this page (you will be asked to log in).

There is a lot of information on the  workshop webpage and new information is posted there often so please check back regularly.

We are having a cocktail reception aboard a cruise ship that will take us around Sydney harbour on Wednesday night. We need a final head count so please let us know if you will not be attending this reception.

Looking forward to seeing you in Sydney,

Organizing Committee,

Hernan G. Arango, IMCS, Rutgers University
John Wilkin, IMCS, Rutgers University
Christopher R Sherwood, USGS, WHOI
Moninya Roughan, University of New South Wales
Deborah Cox, University of New South Wales
