2012 ROMS/TOMS User Workshop
Petrópolis Conference Room, Windsor Atlântica Hotel, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, October 22 - 25, 2012
The registration deadline for the 2012 ROMS/TOMS User Workshop is approaching. This is a reminder that registration is open until June 1, 2012 and abstracts for oral presentations and posters are due by August 31, 2012. To register, please log into the ROMS website and fill out the workshop registration form. This information can be updated often. Notice that there also entries for the T-shirt size and abstract(s). If you are not already a ROMS user, please fill out this form to become a ROMS user.
If you would like to attend the workshop but not become a ROMS user, please fill out this registration form. The password is brazil all lower case. The email address you enter can be used to access and update you information later if necessary through the same URL.
So far less than 20 attendees have offered to give oral presentations and only 5 plan to bring a poster. The ROMS workshop is a fantastic place to confer with other ROMS users and presenting your work is the best way to initiate collaboration. We encourage some of the Brazilian attendees to present their work in some way, even if it's in its infancy. Posters are usually a good medium to present preliminary results. Often the most interesting presentations at ROMS workshops focus on the issues a user is having with their application more than the results.
The hotel Windsor Atlântica requires a definitive attendance count by June 1, 2012. We have to pay for all the logistics related to the conference room and services. We appreciate the sponsoring from various sources to make this possible (ONRG, ProOceano, Rutgers, Marintek, Anonymous). It will be helpful for us if you register early. However, please register only if you are committed to attend. If you would like to attend but you are not sure, let us know by sending me an e-mail.
All US citizens holding a US passport are required to obtain a visa to enter Brazil. Detailed visa information for United States citizens can be found here. The workshop travel information page has a table listing visa exemptions as of July 20, 2011. If your country does not appear in the list, or even if it does, check with the Brazilian consulate in your country for visa requirements.
All workshop information, including for travel and hotels, can be found here. Further information will be posted on that site as it becomes available.
Looking forward to seeing you in Rio,
