Edith, from your original post it sounds as if you have switched from the Roms Agrif version of ROMS to the Rutgers (2.2) version. This would explain why you see a different directory structure, and why you don't have the matlab scripts make_grid.m etc. If this is so then you haven't switched to a ...

I had problems with unrealistically large SSH last year in ROMS2.1. The reason I found is that *_VOLCONS (* means N,S,W,E) is only activated if *_M2NUDGING is also activated, (see globaldefs.h). In other words if you don't have *_M2NUDGING activated then *_VOLCONS is not activated, even though you ...

Adding horizontal random walk to floats
Hi I want to add a random horizontal walk to my floats, much like the vertical random walk already included. In step_floats.F on lines 213 and 214 there is reference to 'ifakt' and 'ifdak' - I can see that these are defined in mod_scalars.F - and they are indices into 'track'. What I can't find ...

flying floats
Hi I am using a 100 or so floats in my configuration. When I plot depth against time for the floats I find that a large proportion seem to rise some 5 m above the surface; this happens about 2/3 of the way through the run. The floats are initialised with Fz0=-3.0, though I have also tried Fz0=23 ...

Question about floats
Hi I am trying to introduce a cluster of floats into my model. I am not sure how the Fdx, Fdy, Fdz parameters in floats.in work? Can somebody tell me what range of values might be used for these parameters, and what sort of clusters will result? On the last line of floats.in a routine called 'init ...

Problem following grid file edit - FIXED
Just so as not to waste anyone's time - I've found the problem here. One of the calls made by editmask.m was to an old script (uvp_masks.m) on my Matlab path. I've corrected this and it's running fine now.

Problem following grid file edit
Hi I've just used editmask.m to add just a few seapoints (forming a small channel leading upstream from a river mouth) in my grd.nc file. Following this I remade and filled my ini.nc file, to conform to the new grid file. The problem now is a blow-up within about 7 timesteps. When I use my old grid ...

Hi I decided to tag this on to the rivers discussion; I have a question with a slight change of emphasis. I am just adding a river to what I hope will be a semi-realistic model of the Gulf of Cadiz. The only river data I've managed to obtain come from a dam that is ~150 km inland (Alcala del Rio ...

More on rivers, ROMS2.0 to 2.1?
Hi The recent discussion about rivers has been of interest to me as I have just been adding a river to my configuration (using Biscay) of the Gulf of Cadiz. I have understood from the discussion that given my application - processes within the Gulf - and grid cell width ~4 km, depth 10 m at river ...

Hi, I am new to ROMS and to modelling, I have a supervisor who is away, and I have some problems... I am trying to run ROMS using a forcing.nc file with wind speeds from NCEP from 1 Oct to 31 Dec 2001. It compiles ok, but when I run gives the following: GET_2DFLD error while reading variable Uwind ...
