Re: Use grided AVISO SLA data as observation data

I have the same problem. And I find that zeta changes after modifying theta_s,theta_b,hc or depth. My roms domain is South China Sea too.I think we can have a disscussion personaly. My qq is 648673743.

Re: about build.sh

You are still shooting in the dark to try to get an exact match to HYCOM, aren't you? I know for the Gulf Stream, getting the separation from the coast to match observations is extremely tricky and it depends on many things, including model resolution. I don't know if they've even solved it yet ...

Re: about build.sh

If you want LMD_MIXING, you should include LMD_SKPP and LMD_NONLOCAL and you will have to provide incoming shortwave. LMD_MIXING is about getting mixed-layer depths based on surface fluxes, including those on tracers plus shortwave. I can't imagine that HYCOM would not include all those surface ...

kate wrote:What was wrong with GLS_MIXING? That it doesn't have the non-local term?
I use the LMD_MIXING instead of GLS_MIXING because my model outcome couldn't get closer to the hycom when I define GLS_MIXING.So I try the LMD_MIXING. You mean it is not necessary to use the LMD_MXING?

Re: about build.sh

If you look at mod_mixing.F, ghats is defined if either LMD_SKPP or LMD_BKPP are defined. It is also inside #ifdef LMD_NONLOCAL. I expect the latter doesn't make sense without the former. So, try #define LMD_SKPP. If I define LMD_SKPP,the output.dat will remind me that there is no swrad in my ...

Parameters in my model

Hi, I wanna to make my model closer to the hycom in order to run some sensitive experiments.I use the hycom data as the boundary and initial condition. The only force is wind from CFRS. The outcome is bad,and I suspect that I don't set the parameters well because most of them are difficult to ...

Re: the simulation result is bad

We know nothing about your parameters. Perhaps if you post them people can chime in with advice. So what is your goal here? Are you running at the HYCOM resolution? Thanks,Kate!I wanna to make my model closer to the hycom in order to run some sensitive experiments. And my model resolution is 1/10°.I ...

about build.sh

Hi,
After I using the LMD_MIXING instead of GLS_MIXING in the .h file and inputting "./build.sh" ,here comes the problem which terminate the building order.I upload the error in the attachment.
Any suggestions are welcome!

Thanks!

Re: SOS : kuroshio in east china sea

I have a question about your theta_s,theta_b and Tcline. My model area is South China Sea,and I set the theta_s=7,theta_b=1 like the example in romswiki.I also set the Tcline=300 which in your model is 10.I couldn't tell whether my parameter setting is right or not.You and me have the same area like ...

Re: the simulation result is bad

To get the closest to HYCOM, you should use the same surface forcing they use. This would include heat and salt fluxes. Find out if they use a bulk flux formulation internally and do what they do. Thanks,Kate.I will have a try!I suspect that I don't set the parameters well because most of them are ...

Re: the simulation result is bad

I doubt that there is something wrong with my cppdef.h file. I think you mean "suspect" and not "doubt". The only thing I see there is signs of a really old ROMS version, nothing all that suspicious. I don't see anything all that alarming about your flow fields either, unless you know from data ...

Hi, I wanna run a model to analyse the South China Sean Circulation, but the results are realy different comparing with hycom data which I used for the initial and boundary conditions. There is no tide in my model, only the wind from Climate Forecast System Version 2 (CFSv2) and zeta from Hycom ...

Not unless you have a stations file or something. Did you try it? What happened? Re: question follows after splitting bry and wind force file

ROMS is quite picky about the format of the file. Do you have tabs in the ocean.in? I suggest getting rid of the comment on the line of your first forcing file too. ROMS will ignore comments where the "!" is at the start of the line. Thanks for your help, there are no tabs or any comments as ...

Re: question follows after splitting bry and wind force file

Dear all
After checking your answers,I still could not solve my problem, why the model did not read the bry2.nc and frc2.nc.Is the update really helpful for my question and where can I get the update?
Thanks for your guys' help!

question follows after splitting bry and wind force file

Dear all My bry file and wind force file are larger than 2G,so I split them according time records. I split bry file into 2 nc files and wind forcing file into 4 nc files. I do not know why the model couldn't read the 'scs_bry2.nc'. When I check the output.dat ,I also could not find 'scs_bry2.nc ...

Re: is this a method to comfirm model steady?

Hi, You should see an asymptotic curve... something like the figure in attached file. See, for example, Marchesiello, P., McWilliams, J.C., Shchepetkin, A., 2001. Open boundary conditions for long-term integration of regional oceanic models. Ocean Modelling 3, 1-20. Penven et al. (2005) Average ...

Re: is this a method to comfirm model steady?

You don't tell us what the black line is - I assume that's your running ROMS model? So then what is the blue line? How was it computed? Looking at diag.F, the kinetic energy there is computed in a volume-weighted way. In other words, each cell is KE times the cell volume, then you sum all those and ...

is this a method to comfirm model steady?

hi all, I have a basic question. Please check my picture which I have uploaded in the attachment. I used the hycom data to caculate the kenetic energy of the South China Sea by using the equation:1/2*m*(u*u+v*v) which I plot in bule line.To clarify the comparion,I just set m=2. Also , I used the 'u ...
