Re: How can I compile ROMS with MPI3
Hi kate Tkanks for your reply! I'm still trying. I found that I have done it before. But now I got a new problem " cd /NSFCGZ/nsfc2015_250/yinp/Projects/upwelling/Build; /NSFCGZ/app/MPI/Gnu/MPICH/3.2-gcc4.9.2-dyn/bin/mpif90 -c -frepack-arrays -O3 -ffast-math -ffree-form -ffree-line-length-none ...

How can I compile ROMS with MPI3
Hi everyone.
My system only got mpi3. I searched this forum found
it is possible to compile ROMS with mpi3.
But how? Since in bash.bash, there's only two choices: mpich and mpich2.
Hope for someone's help. I will really appreciate it!

Re: Can't run my IS4D-Var case Gnorm = NaN
Many thanks. For above situation, try to use super observation file instead. Yes, it works! I saw the log file you attached and found TLM increments are zero even though ROMS continuing the intergration. I was wondering why this value is appearing. Would you give same value to nHIS and nOBC, nSFF ...

Re: Can't run my IS4D-Var case Gnorm = NaN
Hi, Does your domain include equator? If it's ok for you, I want to see your model domain. -JH Hi, JH Thanks. My domain doesn't include equator. It's 16N - 24N, 105E - 132E, in north South China Sea. And I have another question while I compile with SANITY_CHECK, the error goes: cd /mnt/volume04 ...

Can't run my IS4D-Var case Gnorm = NaN
Hi, everyone! When I run my IS4D-Var model, it blows up at the beginning of the first inner loop. The log file shows: … << Descent Algorithm > (001,000): Initial gradient norm, Gnorm = NaN … < 4D Variational Data Assimilation, Outer = 001, Inner = 001 > STEP KINETIC_ENRG POTEN_ENRG TOTAL_ENRG NET_VOL ...

Re: Tangent Initial Norm is NaN
Hi, leon
I believe you have solved this problem already. Now I have the similar error like you
in my IS4D-Var run, my initial gradient norm (Gnorm) is NaN.
Could you tell me more about this error and how you solved it?
Thank you very much.

Use grided AVISO SLA data as observation data
Hi All I want to use grided AVISO SLA data as observation data in my 4D-Var run. My question is should I use grided AVISO SLA data directly in the observation file or should I add mean sea level data to grided AVISO SLA data to make it become SSH data first and then write it into observation file? I ...

Re: Input error when including boundary conditions in 4DVar
Hi, all.
Now I know that this error occur because I have wrong 'NOBC' number in ocean.in file.
Nbrec=1+NTIMES/NOBC should be 10 as the error say.
I don't know why the size of 'obc_adjust' have to be 10. So, it's a new question.
Thanks for your help.

Input error when including boundary conditions in 4DVar
Hi, everyone! I have successuflly run the I4D-Var model without "ADJUST_BOUNDARY", , then I defined "ADJUST_BOUNDARY", but I got this error: <<<< 4D Variational Data Assimilation, Outer = 001, Inner = 000 >>>> INITIAL: Configuring and initializing forward nonlinear model ... ******* NETCDF_CHECK_DIM ...

Re: Problems with unforced model -- unrealistic circulation
It looks like the standard pressure gradient error-driven currents. What are your Beckmann and Haney numbers? You didn't show that. Is your stratification a function of z only? Thank you, Kate! My Beckmann and Haney numbers are Maximum grid stiffness ratios: rx0 = 3.661005E-01 (Beckmann and ...

Problems with unforced model -- unrealistic circulation
Hi,all I am modeling the M2 internal tide in South China Sea. First I run the model without any forcing in the domain. The initial T/S are horizontally uniform. Initial velocity and ssh are set to zero. Then I run the model for two weeks. I thought that the ocean would remains at rest when unforced ...

Thank you, kate! You are so kind. I searched "pyroms" and found this linkkate wrote:We have some Python tools for doing this, dependent on pyroms.

Is it right? I have never use Python before, but now I couldn't wait to learn it.

HYCOM data serve as initial and boundary conditions
Hi everydody. I want to use HYCOM data to generate my own initial and boundary condition files. But I am very confused about the interpolation. I used the RNT toolbox before. First I fill the HYCOM data use linear interpolation, then use rnt_2Doa to interpolate HYCOM data to ROMS grid, at last do ...
