The problem about creating an idealized warm ocean eddy
Dear all, I want to create an idealized warm ocean eddy (symmetric structure in terms of temperature). I used several temperature profiles to make the initial condition, but the structure was a square area as shown in following figure. Do you have any idea about how to create the initial condition ...

Re: How to convert potential temperature to temperature
If you could put seawater in a container that insulates it from exchanging heat with any of the surrounding water, then move it from one depth to another, its temperature will change by virtue of the compression due to pressure. However, its potential temperature would not. That's basically the ...

Re: How to convert potential temperature to temperature
There is a "seawater" toolbox in Matlab http://www.cmar.csiro.au/datacentre/ext_docs/seawater.htm or Python https://pypi.python.org/pypi/seawater/ Dear Wilkin, Could I ask another question, why roms use potential temperature instead of temperature? Actually, I am very new to ocean model, I am ...

How to convert potential temperature to temperature
Dear all,
I want to calculate ocean heat content which is defined by temperature. Does anyone know how to convert potential temperature to temperature. Thanks.

ROMS output plotting problem
Dear all, I have a very simple question about plotting ROMS output. The vertical coordinate of output is based on s-coordinate, such as temp(ocean_time, s_rho , eta_rho, xi_rho), I want to plot it with a vertical coordinate as depth, how should I do this. By the way, I am using ncl as a tool. Thanks ...

How to make the salinity field constant
Dear all,
I am doing an idealized case to see the mixing process caused by Tropical cyclone. I want to exclude the effect of salinity, so it is better to make it constant during the simulation. Can you give me a hint how to do this in ROMS. Thanks a lot.

WRF_ROMS running problem
Hi everyone, I got the following error when running WRF and ROMS. Do you have any idea about solving this. By the way, I am sure that the processor configuration for WRF and ROMS is right. mct_coupler - Number assigned processors: 032 not equal to spawned MPI nodes: 001 Thanks in advance.

Re: ROMS-WRF compiling problem
Thanks very much John. The last problem was solved, but I got a new one as following: mct_coupler_params.f90(2): error #7002: Error in opening the compiled module file. Check INCLUDE paths. [MCT_WRF_COUPLER_PARAMS] USE mct_wrf_coupler_params ----------^ I have checked my INCLUDE paths, there were no ...

ROMS-WRF compiling problem
Dear all, I get the source code from USGS and try to couple WRF and ROMS. WRF could be compiled successfully, but there were some problems for ROMS compilation as followings: distribute.f90(2074): error #7013: This module file was not generated by any release of this compiler. [NETCDF] USE netcdf ...
